NO DEAL BREXIT AND F-GAS CERTIFICATES

If the UK leaves the EU without a deal, F-Gas certificates issued from the UK will no longer be recognised, or valid, in EU member states.

This will apply to both personal F-Gas qualification certificates and to F-Gas Register company certificates.

If you are affected by this and wish to continue working in the EU zone, post Brexit, then you will need to hold an EU issued F-Gas qualification personal certificate and an EU ssued company F-Gas Register certificate.

If you do not work outside of the UK or non-EU countries then this does not affect you.

Individuals holding F-Gas qualifications from the UK can apply for an exchange certificate from the Irish EPA HERE

Companies wishing to exchange their company F-Gas Register certificate to an Irish one for EU use can do so HERE

PLEASE NOTE: F-Gas Ireland Company registration is renewable annually so your exchanged certificate will be valid until 31 December 2019.
After this time you will need to renew annually with F-Gas Ireland  to maintain the registration.

UK Registration with the REFCOM F-Gas Register will remain as a 3 year renewal cycle.
All exchanges of certificates must be made before 11pm on 31 October.

WHO NEEDS TO BE REGISTERED?

Prompted by continuing confusion surrounding who needs to be certified or registered in the SRAC sector, REFCOM has produced a new Technical Bulletin explaining who needs to be registered and why.

Any contractor, including labour only subcontractors and sole traders, who are involved in the installation, servicing, maintenance, repair or decommissioning of any SRAC system, must be registered with an EU approved, certifying body for company certificates such as REFCOM.

The full Technical Bulletin is available HERE
