CARRIER’S NEW CHILLER “A HUGE STEP TOWARDS PHASEDOWN”
REFCOM attended the UK launch of Carrier’s AquaForce Vision 30KAV chiller at Twickenham last week. Graeme, who was a guest speaker at the event discussing the impact of the F gas phasedown, described the chiller as “one huge step in the right direction”.

MEETING WITH DEFRA
A number of issues were discussed, including, pan industry’s desire to mandate training for operatives working with flammable refrigerants and raising awareness to end users of the implications of the phase down and how it is affecting the price and availability of HFCs.
DEFRA confirmed that at the recent stakeholder meeting in Brussels the Commission made it clear that the price rises are as they expected and wanted, so there is no political will in Brussels to reduce the severity of the phase down process. DEFRA are launching, via the EA and SEPA, an awareness campaign to explain why service companies have to charge significantly more than in recent years due to rapidly rising costs of refrigerants.
UPDATE TO PHASE DOWN TECHNCIAL BULLETIN
Following discussions with contractors last week regarding the problems they are experiencing due to rising prices, the Technical Bulletin regarding the Phase down published last year has been updated drawing more attention to the price rise implications so that our members can use it to reassure their clients.

F GAS AWARENESS SEMINARS
Graeme delivered an F-gas awareness-training seminar to staff from registered REFCOM Company EcoAir, in North London last week. The seminar was aimed at all staff, with varying degrees of knowledge of F gas, giving them an overview of what drove the regulation and an understanding of their requirements and how to check their customers for compliance.
